Private Treatments

Reiki treatments are very relaxing. The recipient lays fully clothed on a body works table while listening to soothing music.

A full Reiki treatment takes about an hour although some people require more time than others.

I offer these treatments in Ottawa. Evening appointments are available. I also offer classes for all levels.

Certified Training Courses

Anyone can learn to become a Reiki Practitioner, as the ability is within all of us.

I offer training courses for all levels. Please click here for more information and dates.

Reiki

The Ancient Healing Art

Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient healing art with its origins being a mixture of early Christianity, Buddhism, Chinese Qigong and Japanese Shintoism. It was rediscovered in the mid 1800's in Japan. Widely used by nurses and health care workers in Europe, it is growing in popularity in North America.

It is a completely natural healing practice which channels universal life force energy through the hands of the Reiki practitioner into the body of the receiver, stimulating their own vital healing energy.

Reiki is also a path for personal growth, self-development and self-healing.

Reiki can be experienced in two ways - by receiving a treatment and by learning how to channel Reiki for yourself and others.

How Reiki works

Reiki energy accelerates the natural healing process, increases the effectiveness of the immune system and gently works on the whole person to balance energy in the body, mind, and spirit. In this way it boosts the body's own innate healing abilities. Possible benefits may include stress reduction, pain relief, accelerated healing of illnesses and injuries, relaxation, mental empowerment, assistance in coping with addictions, and helping the body deal with chronic illness. Your own body directs the energy to where it is most needed. The benefits can last for 3 days after the session.

I am a Registered and Certified Reiki Master fully trained in the Usui and Karuna methods of natural healing and offer private treatments and certified training for all levels. Initiation into Reiki, through certified training, simply brings out the best in you, intensifies your capabilities and reveals the path to relaxation.

Karuna Reiki

I also offer Karuna Reiki certified training for those who have been Reiki Masters for a minimum of 6 months. Karuna is a Sanskrit word used in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Zen. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others. It could also be translated as “compassionate action.” When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one. For this reason when we help others and aid them in their healing process, all beings benefit. Because all beings are one, it is understood that Karuna is not only extended to others out of love, but also because it is an entirely logical thing to do. In the same way that you would want to heal your own wounds, you would also want the wounds of others to heal. It is also stated in the Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by parjna or wisdom in order to have the right effect.

Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings are working to end suffering on Earth. They continually send an unlimited amount of healing energy and guidance to us, but not all are receptive to it. As you develop Karuna in yourself, not only are you helping others, but you also become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. In this way, your healing is quickened.

Karuna Reiki® opens you to work more closely with all enlightened beings. This includes those enlightened ones who are physically present as well as those in spirit.
